Five little paintings - Comic Character - Amaryllis

So for my comic character class this week we were given a handful of situations, and were told to draw five, so here are mine!  I'm still playing with acrylic and miss Amaryllis, and I am enjoying the medium so far.  I haven't really worked with it much, but I am happy with what I've been able to do!

Mimic: A Healer's Rite - Page 3 - Progress

Some in progress work for page 3 of my Mimic: A Healer’s Rite comic!  It features Dove and the first big shot of the “Guardian Spirit of Healers” who is basically their deity of health and illness.

In the comic, Dove must prove to him that she deserves to continue her training to become a master healer, so that her teacher will allow her to continue her studies.

I’ve never really drawn creatures before, so I am very happy with him so far!

Actual Comic Progress - Mimic: A Healer's Rite

So for my Advanced Comics Seminar class, I have started my larger story (which is also going to be my senior project).  It'll be around 30 pages, and will be finished for my Senior show next semester when I graduate.

You might remember the cover I screen-printed for it...

& here's the start on Page one...

 I still have to finish it, but I am pleased with how it's turning out!  My current revelation is that I can now kinda draw rocks!! :D

Bunnies! - Its Group Anthology time!

These bunnies are for the cover for an animal themed comic anthology I am making in my Comic Publishing class.  The anthology will include work from myself, the amazing, talented Olivia Johnson, and the fantastic, hilarious Rachel Topka!

Super excited for this one!  We are each making a letter for the cover.  Mine is the U in the title "FUR".  And then we are each making a pattern with an animal as well, hence the bunny patterns!  More progress later. :)  This one will include a whole new piece about bunnies, and my platypus comic as well!

New Project! Circus Book!

So for this next assignment in Comic Publishing, I am doing a one of a kind handmade book of circus characters when they are little and then grown up, so here's the three I have done so far, and the rest will be getting drawn tomorrow!  The idea of this project is that we need to make a book which can only truly be read in the format we make it in, so I am making a book where each character is a layer that make up one of two group portraits which you can then change the order of the pages to view the characters in different ways.

Comics on a deadline... Looks like I'm back in school alright.

Thumbnails for a new comic for publishing class.  I really like it but it has to be done in a week!!  Hopefully I can pull this off!  I think I can!  I think I can!

The assignment is to make a 24 page comic book + the cover, so comic this week, book making next...  Here I go!

For my final screenprinting project I'm doing a cover for my senior project comic!  Yay!  Started drawing today, and bellow I've posted my steps on drawing the main character's hair.  I'm really excited, and there will probably be at least one more layer going into her hair to add some density around her neck. & all the red and blue lines in the background are just sketches that'll be taken out later.

Screenprinting | "Weaving Dreams" | FINALLY DONE!

I am finally done with the digital drawing!!!!!  It is a good feeling to be all ready to actually print this week, and I am really excited to see how it turns out!!  This is a big one!  It'll be 11x17 inches which is huge compared to the 5X7 inch pieces I've done up until now, so wish me luck!  It;s sure to be an adventure.

Just a quick post to show more progress on this piece.  The dress is finally done!  I'm really please with how it has come out!  The gradient on the bottom of the skirt was really fun to figure out!

Wow, it's been a while.  Finals have begin fully underway, so I've been neglecting my blog, but here's to getting back into the swing of things!

Here's my next screenprinting project in progress.  It's a appropriation assignment (which basically means I need to take something that already exists and merge it with my art), so I have taken a dress by Madeleine Vionnet from 1937 (I'll post an image below) and am using it as my original character's outfit.  

This character is from a story where there is a profession for people who literally weave and control dreams.  It is an image of the main character, Arielle, who begins struggling as dreams begin to infect reality around her, but she is the only one able to see them.  The color choices are to represent the two different types of dreams.  The warm colors represent the dream matter that she still has control over while the deep purple/ pink represents the uncontrollable dreams that are trying to take over her reality.

Fairy Comic | "Willow" | Page 1

Here's the first page of my "Willow" comic!  It's setting up the scene as you can see Willow's tent set up in her tree.  I digitally drew and colored this page in Photoshop, and I am pretty proud of it!
