Screenprinting | "Weaving Dreams" | Dress finally done!!!!!

Just a quick post to show more progress on this piece.  The dress is finally done!  I'm really please with how it has come out!  The gradient on the bottom of the skirt was really fun to figure out!

Screenprinting | "Weaving Dreams" | In-progress sneak peak

Wow, it's been a while.  Finals have begin fully underway, so I've been neglecting my blog, but here's to getting back into the swing of things!

Here's my next screenprinting project in progress.  It's a appropriation assignment (which basically means I need to take something that already exists and merge it with my art), so I have taken a dress by Madeleine Vionnet from 1937 (I'll post an image below) and am using it as my original character's outfit.
This character is from a story where there is a profession for people who literally weave and control dreams.  It is an image of the main character, Arielle, who begins struggling as dreams begin to infect reality around her, but she is the only one able to see them.  The color choices are to represent the two different types of dreams.  The warm colors represent the dream matter that she still has control over while the deep purple/ pink represents the uncontrollable dreams that are trying to take over her reality.

And here is Vionnet's beautiful gown.

Fairy Comic | "Willow" | Page 1

Here's the first page of my "Willow" comic!  It's setting up the scene as you can see Willow's tent set up in her tree.  I digitally drew and colored this page in Photoshop, and I am pretty proud of it!

Screenprinting | Hedgehogs! | Printed onto a cotton blend silk

So here is my latest finished project for my screenprinting class!  It's the repeating pattern featuring hedgehogs from before, but now its printed on a cute pink silk.  For my first time printing on fabric, I think it turned out well!

Fairy Comic | Willow | Panel Preview

Here's a preview of one of the panels for my "Willow" comic.  It has been drawn digitally in Photoshop with a tablet.  I've been trying to find a medium that suits my artwork, an I am really liking working digitally so far, because it is so forgiving.

Fairy Comic | "Willow" | Cover

Here is the cover of my Fairy comic that will be used as a tag for a costume I will be making.  The title is "Willow" which is both the name of the fairy and the tree which I based her design off of.  This is a digital drawing entirely made in Photoshop.

Screenprinting | Repeat Pattern on Fabric

For our next assignment in my screenprinting class, we will be printing a pattern onto fabric.

My inspiration for this piece was my Grandma Stamm!  So I included hedgehogs and flowers, because she loves hedgehogs and I love flowers (she likes them too)!
So above is the pattern just repeated once, digitally created in Photoshop.

And below is the pattern repeated over and over as it will look on the fabric.

Funny Little Critters | Platypus Comic FINISHED!

It's finally done!  My comic has been all water-colored and it now up in my Merits show on the second floor of MCAD, in the gallery behind the mail room.  This has been a project of mine for a long while, and it is wonderful to finally see it completed!  I have always loved the appearance of water-colors, but I have never really done them myself.  This is my second attempt at painting something with them, and I think it turned out fairly well!
